The Competition will have 3 stages: eliminatory, semifinal round and final rounds. The lottery for the order will take place on Friday, August 24th at 1PM in the Music Hall of the Instituto Superior de Música del Estado. All rounds will be open to the public.
Eliminatory Round (Saturday, August 25, 2018)
ALL accepted active pianists are invited, but not obliged to participate. The round will take place in the Music Hall of the Instituto Superior de Música del Estado on Saturday, August 25, from 9AM to 2PM and from 4PM to 8PM.

All works must be played by memory. Each participant will have a time slot to try the Steinway D on Friday, August 24th. Up to 8 pianists will be selected to participate in the semifinal round. The results will be announced at the end of the Eliminatory round.
Semifinal round (Monday, August 27th 2018)
The round will take place in Tlaqná, Centro Cultural, Sala Anexa on Monday, August 27t from 9AM to 1 PM and from 3PM to 7PM. The semifinalists will perform a recital of a minimum of 45 min and a maximum of 60 min. The repertoire should consist of works by the composers of EACH ONE of the following groups:
GROUP A) J. S. Bach, D. Scarlatti, F. J. Haydn, W. A. Mozart, L. V. Beethoven, F. Schubert.
GROUP B) F. Mendelssohn, R. Schumann, F. Chopin, F. Liszt, J. Brahms, C. Franck, E. Grieg
GROUP C). A. Scriabin, C. Debussy, M. Ravel, S. Prokofiev, I. Stravinsky, S. Rachmaninov, B. Bartók, D. Shostakovich, G. Ligeti, E. Granados, I. Albéniz, Manuel de Falla, A. Ginastera, H. Villa-lobos, M. M. Ponce.
All works must be played by memory. Each participant will have a time slot to try the Steinway D on Sunday, August 26th.
Up to 3 pianists will be selected to participate in the final round. The results will be announced at the end of the Semifinal round.
Final Round (Saturday, September 1st. 2018)
The round will take place in Tlaqná, Centro Cultural, Sala Principal on Saturday, September 1st at 6PM.
The finalists will perform a piano concerto with the Xalapa Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Philippe Entremont.

- All works must be played by memory without repeats.
- Works from the eliminatory round cannot be played in the semifinal round.
- Works composed by the participants are not eligible.
- The jury can stop any performance if they decide to do so.
- The works from the audition video COULD be performed in any of the rounds.
- The festival reserve all rights to record all activities including concerts and recitals with no remuneration for the participants.
-The Jury will comprise of prominent artists.
- If a participant currently is or has been a student of member of the jury, the jury memeber will not adjudicate their performance.
- The decision of the jury is final and not a subject to appeal.
Grand Prix- Esperanza Cruz Award: 30,000 MXP and Diploma
2nd prize- 20,000 MXP and Diploma
