Novus Mundus is born within a creative artistic and purposeful community with the idea of offering society a historically grounded and contextualized aesthetic proposal, meaning that the alternatives of recreating the music of the past in a historical frames of reference become of varying types aiming at respecting the aesthetic intentions of the composers and exalting the listeners’s emotions; the last two being milestones in musical interpretation.
This process is known as “Historically grounded interpretation” or simply “Early Music”.
“Early Music“ is any type of music whose interpretative tradition has been interrupted and rebuilt afterwards.
“Art is not only a historic document that reflects the cultural practice of it’s epoch but a device which deepens into the most profound nooks of the human being. This has to do with life, death, love, disillusion, hope…. As music grows igniting these emotions it serves as art and not a mere historic document”.
Rubén López Cano
“Novus Mundus” offers a historic interpretation with modern instruments; we think that historic criteria is more important than historic instruments and that it will prevail over any other intent of authenticity.
